Director Processing Vegetable Growers
My name in Ronald VanDamme and I am a third-generation farmer operating a farm with my son in the municipality of Chatham Kent. Our Farm has several employees and encompasses approximately 3000 acres.
Our operation main location is by Wallaceburg and we raise tomatoes for Con Agra foods in Dresden as well as machine harvest cucumbers. We also grow and custom harvest sugar beets, corn, soybeans and wheat.
I have been involved in the OPVG for many years serving at the district level and attending the annual conference each year. In 2019 I became a director on the Provincial Board where I represent the Growers of District One. I also have experience on other boards including the Ontario Sugar beet growers association where I was the research chair for several years.
I feel very optimistic about the Vegetable Industry and feel that this area will become a premier growing area for the Great Lakes region. I will work to represent all growers as we move forward and will work in the best long-term interest of growers. I have experience and understand the importance of research and government policy and crop insurance as it relates to our industry.
